Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
ROU, you want to tag the episodes before Ep45? (I thought of tagging on Episode 46).
I emailed you login info.
I'll let you finish content, I'm going to focus on spam and backup solutions. Cool?

Spam solutions sounds like a great thing. I noticed Akismet pop up on the options while I was uploading. We've only been up for a few days and already many bits of flattering spam.tbaker2500 wrote:ROU, you want to tag the episodes before Ep45? (I thought of tagging on Episode 46).

And one of my favorite authors talked to me on twitter because of my talk about our flattering spam.

We can do it either direction with posting vs. tagging and piggybacking but Time Lord and Tech Maven Tom Baker is The Man for the technological solutions.
I'd like to go back and make the post styles consistent at some point, but I'm kind of doubting that'll happen. It's a crap ton of a lot of work (which is why they're inconsistent ... lol).

Ok, Akismet is installed.
I'm not sure exactly how it works, but as long as it does...

Ok. We're posted up through episode 100.
I'm off to play Texas Hold 'Em (computer style) and get ready for my weekly weekend trip.

You guys are just going to town. That's fantastic. I can post an update on the Posterous site once the new domain is active. Any other small jobs that need done at the new site? I don't have a lot of time, but would like to help out as well.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
I'll get you a login made. But how about a new story read to launch the new site with?
FYI, dribblecast.org is now up, but I need to move the files and database over. I'm going to do that probably saturday. I'll post when I'm moving it, to prevent doubling up.

As much as I love my Android, the way it handles multi-line text editing in browser is an abomination unto Nuggin.tbaker2500 wrote:I'll get you a login made. But how about a new story read to launch the new site with?

It was such an abomination unto Nuggin that I forgot the message I was supposed to type in there.

I don't have access to my sound equipment this weekend. I can do recording on my phone and that'd probably still sound acceptable for Dribblecast purposes. Sounds like Swamp is on it though.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Well JE, I was thinking that you nail down the "We've moved" to put on posterous. Whenever you can or feels right. If Swamp gets a new story so that we have something new, not just old content. This weekend I move the site to the new address. We finish getting the old moved over, and we go live. At which point it can kinda all fall together.
Also, I set up a gmail hosted account at dribblecast. So we can now have something like submissions@dribblecast.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Ok meeps, It's now transferred. The new address is http://www.dribblecast.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; !
If anybody wants to work, it's back and ready. I still have work to do on the RSS feeds, it's not taking the image for some reason. But that should be invisible to you.

OKay. I have the new ep done. That was fun. Do you want me to send it to the old yahoo account, the above gmail address, or load it directly (will need the instructions)?

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Excellent! Let's get the rest of the episodes moved over, and let dreamrock get the feed has moved episode posted on the old account.
I'll get you credentials and show you how to post. I the meantime, I wonder if it's possible to do a submission form, or something on the website.
I tried making to site look better, and failed. I think we'll need Bo on that.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Ok swamp, you's gots janitorial access now.
I got gmail for domains up and running. So janitors, once I sent out the password, can now log in at mail.dribblecast.org. I have 1 email account set up right now, post@dribblecast.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
General questions for people:
How do we want to handle janitorializing? As I see it, the point of a janitor is a spam filter and malicous-post filter. Do we have 1 email address which is access by all? One email for each janitor, and the incoming mail gets distributed to all of them?
Another thing which could be done. We could set up a submission form on the website. Then the form emails the janitors each a copy, and it could be done to peep's regular email accounts, since it would be hidden. Then they don't have "one more thing to check".
Or do I look into anybody being able to post directly to the dribblecast page, and the janitors must approve of post before it going live? I'm not sold on this, bot abuse is SO high.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
I support the submission form idea. Give people some validated text fields to drop the URL, title, and any music/sound attributions in, attach the mp3 file, an e-mail address to contact if anything goes wrong, and call is a day.tbaker2500 wrote:Ok swamp, you's gots janitorial access now.

One of the problems with e-mail submission is that folks sometimes forget important stuff like the file or the address. Another is vastly differing post formats.

I'll have access to my recording equipment tonight so I'll record the moving message and draft it on posterous so any one of the janitors can post it as soon as we're ready to go live.
Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
I don't really have the energy for janitorial stuff today. D:

I'll send an e-mail to the yahoo janitor address in a few minutes.
