Phantom Ray manta ray/stealth bomber (*edit* Bo added a name)
can go up to 90% invisibility, fly super fast, projectile spikes from its tail, wrap it's "wings" around opponent's head to smother

The reasons are manifold. The natural habits of the baseline beast inform its mega'ffied behaviors. Swarms of octopi you don't hear about - things covered with fleas, different story. Additionally, I am partial to the image of a herd of siamese cats, mutant or otherwise. Lastly, the Snaketopus is already a swarm of sorts, what with 8 different snakes being involved.ROU Killing Time wrote:What was the ruling in Hive/Swarm beasts, oh wise and wicked beastmaster?

A keen list - I'm glad Google's best and brightest are aggregating the important stuff. Red Panda at number one though? I blame Dreamworks/Dustin Hoffman for this. I demand hagfish, seawolf, snake fish, or some other grotesque tubular fish be represented!jannypie wrote:FYI - Google's 2011 Zeitgeist is up, and in the US, rare Wild Animals are a top 10 item, with the top 10 of those being:

Tapirs though, much love.

Cheatah and Kimono Dragon may have an early lead, considering they've already penetrated our collective unconscious - so speaketh google.

None dare mess with Turmanchilla...the teenage reporter thought he was going to be the next Spider Man when he was bitten by a mutant turantula but things got really weird when he was attacked by a roaming pack of rabid chinchillas.

Jabberwocktopus. Now with vorpal tentacles. Snicker-snack.snack.snack.snack.snack.snack.snack.snack.
Ebolemur. So cute. So bleeding from every pore with contagion.
Tossier. A telekinetic tarsier that tends to throw his opponents' weight around.
Gobblin' Shark. A goblin shark with an extradimensional tapeworm.
Woebegone Wobbegong. A wobbegong shark in traditional mourning garb, foretelling death of his enemies.

Bedbugs (swarm) (needs funny name)
Small and omnipresent, these bugs release a sleeping drug into the victim. When the victim falls asleep, the horde devours the helpless beast.
Can't travel distance on it's own, needs to be carried, preferably in luggage.

Hmm, the best gamer/cheaters I know try their darndest to bend reality to their point of view. So how about he can create a localized distortion field in which things can behave how he describes them?StalinSays wrote:Cheatah is close, needs a couple more wrinkles to make him a real threat. I'm feeling a hacker vibe, want to expound on that. Maybe he realizes we're living in a simulation, and with a slightly Matrix'y tinge, can alter reality in advantageous way? Has a little computer wrist panel sort of deal. Otherwise very fast, very smart, metal claws.

Well "Dreadbugs" is probably a little too obvious.tbaker2500 wrote:Bedbugs (swarm) (needs funny name)
Maybe "Sandmenace" (alias "Sandmen-ace") and they already have a kickass intro theme...

Yes. And you could incorporate the interesting fact that Cimex dreadularius' first blood meal brings him to sexual maturity.tbaker2500 wrote:I like Dreadbugs!
His voice changes. He starts to sound like Paul Anka, singing 'Having My Baby'.
Blood Meal is like Prom Night. You spend $20 million to get rid of him, but you can never get rid of him. Even when he is not there, you feel him crawling on you at night, like Paul Anka, singing 'Having My Baby'. And the only way to get the damn song out of your head is to stab yourself in the eye with an icepick.
Yes, truly, Dreadbugs are your worst nightmare.

ASS-HAT MAGIC SPIDER
(Just for fun, and yes, I was catching up on the Dunesteef, why do you ask?)
Ability to create gravity fields to temporarily make opponent or itself much lighter then it really is. Enemy charges in, then is helplessly flailing in air for a few seconds. Also can help Spider make acrobatic, anti-gravity ninja like attacks (also see: Jackie Chan movies)
OceLOT:
Defense is turning and running while a tail-end beam turns enemy into salt. Excellent feline attacks when not in retreat. Can also out one to sleep with philosophical religious discussions.
CarpyBarra:
Half fish, half rodent! Sprays a fire-hose jet of water to blind attackers. Scale armor. "Nasty, big, pointy teeth!" and toxic scent glands.

Lethal Poke attack can pierce any armor when allowed in close. Too close. Through identity theft can take on aspects of other beasts.
