We begin the official season!
---- - - -- <> -- - - ----
Ultimately the MBDM will consist of 9 total beasts (plus 3 hybrid finalists) - thanks to an outpouring of ideas from the community, shared in the MBDM 2012 - Feed Us Your Beast Suggestions, we have far more than that. So what to do?
Heats! I'll be creating 9 topics, and 9 Facebook discussions, with names, descriptions, and itty bitty thumbnails for submitted critters. Over 3 weeks, forum members will vote, and the beast from each topic with majority vote will become a fully fleshed out, fully illustrated member of the 9. Really wanna see your beast make it through? Recruit some fresh forumites! (sound the horn of corruption!)
---- - - -- <> -- - - ----
After some consideration, here are the heats groupings. 9 total heats. We'll do a weekly windows, with 3 heats running in tandem for each week. I'll have the first 3 heat topics/art ready Tuesday (tomorrow) night.

Some tough divisions! I think the winner of Scaled-Beasts and Fanged Beasts will have to be truly worthy!

Re: MBDM 2012 Round 0 - Heats - Explanation
I've sent several random peeps to the forums to vote and had a unanimous response thus far: "Where are the powers/descriptions listed??"
Seems folks don't want to sift through the think-tank beastiary of our super animal nominations thread... any way to get an oh-so-brief one-sentence description of each listed under the bad-ass little sketch?
Most people seem to vote purely based on the drawings and flashy creative names... whereas those among us us that aren't just spoon-fed pseudo-hippies or brain-washed hill people actually like to vote on ISSUES.
And by issues I mean abominable, awe-inspiring genetic and technological enhancements.

Adding em now, have to do rewrites on most of em, for balance and clarity.normsherman wrote:I've sent several random peeps to the forums to vote and had a unanimous response thus far: "Where are the powers/descriptions listed??"

The guy is seriously a machine. He went full force from designing/finishing the entire Drabblecast webpage to knocking out my CD over the holidays directly into megabeasts here, always with standards at the highest. Dude amazes me.

Same cr)%P here in Africa – I have tried to share the amazing, awe-inspiring randomness with friends …the last comment I got was “yeah so? When do we get to see them fight?” Apparantly if its not presented on a big screen in 3D its not cool enough!normsherman wrote:I've sent several random peeps to the forums to vote and had a unanimous response thus far: "Where are the powers/descriptions listed??"

Ah well, at least I have DC for company – thanks guys, I feel like you get me!

You're in Afreeka ?!
Sheesh, your friends might have actually qualified to be MBDM contestants. They certainly had the right attitude.
Let me here drop a reminder to DC forumers to please do us the favor of adding your location to your profile. Unless you're in a really lame place, like Dubuque, or OC. Connor Choadsworth wants to know.
You could end up with some really interesting stalkers.
And who wouldn't want that?

Thanks everyone. I took another kick to the shorts in my personal life last night, so booting up the laptop and seeing this before bed, it was big. Unlucky in love, but protected in the tentacle's clammy embrace.moonowl wrote:the 'little beast doodles' look rad!
Wait until you see what the other 30 heat'ers are looking like! Lotta of my favorites are waiting in the wings!
No need to divulge any info you don't wish shared, but yeh, love the idea of putting a visible pin in the map. I've seen the user demographics our facebook page yields, we've got a true global reach, it's really neat. Power of podcasting!strawman wrote:do us the favor of adding your location to your profile
Re: MBDM 2012 Round 0 - Heats - Explanation
In some circles getting kicked in the shorts can be the penultimate of kinks. If i were going to use a Mighty ducks reference i would say that 3 inches in another direction could turn a blow to the nads into a kick in the ass as motivation to continue to be awesome. I admit that it could also be a blow to the inner thigh rather than the golden yolk. It is still better than getting yolk on your twig and this analogy just got all weird.StalinSays wrote: I took another kick to the shorts in my personal life
You have done a great job on getting things started with MBDM V with pictures up.

Re: MBDM 2012 Round 0 - Heats - Explanation
It occurs to me that being in a relationship with a guy whose existence is filled with the creatures you have running around in your attic might limit your potential gene pool to a "certain kind of woman".
If so, the good news is that most of your potential mates are probably within posting distance. In that spirit, if you're interested in DC's most eligible bachelor, you might add your photo to your profile, as well as your location.
In the spirit of round 2 of MBDM, you might combine attributes with Bo, and create an awesome future hybrid contestant, in which a kick in the shorts would be a powerful technique.
Note: This post may belong in its own thread.
It is unsolicited, and in no way reflects the opinion of the management of DC. But as a general rule, if you produce an awesome hybrid, DC will exploit it as much as possible.

My tentacles, combined with Bo's artistic flair could be used to create a combatant.... we could call him the "Artopus" and it can use its quick sense of humor to create several caricatures of the other competitors at high speed. This will cause them to see all there silly little flaws thereby creating a terrible inferiority complex.strawman wrote:Huzzah Huzzah!!

All the ladies watching will fall in love with him (because the ladies dig a tormented artistic soul) and beg him to take them into his tentacle embrace and…..well, that’s enough of that…..
