This one PULLED ME IN.
Wow! Awesome production. I'm starting to think, after listening to her Podcastle stories, that Samantha Henderson has a knack for sea-faring yarns?
But I did go back to listen to Starry Night like Norm recommended and I have to say, I may have been wrong in my baseless assumption that the old Drabblecast archives are all less solid episodes. That story was wonderful and very beautifully written, had me in almost-tears by the end (thank goodness not full-tears, I was at work!)
So yah, "Maybe the Stars"= loved it. Hearing the name "Little Useless" over and over was a little jarring, I would have maybe preferred a real name, but other than that I loved the fleeting relationship secretly established in that dark creaking hull between little girl and fish (mer?) being. Had me thinking about how we always have a choice, even if it seems like only some of us have a choice.
