A Kelpie's Tale
She stands perplexed upon the riverbank. A dilapidated bridge, now merely scattered stones lies broken and forlorn. She drifts down the water’s-edge in search of some safe crossing-point, finding more churning currents in her way.
Then from the depths appears a figure wading toward the shore, long hair awash with cloying weeds his sombre eyes meet hers. Remaining in the eddying course and without word he turns, proffering his back. Hesitant, she approaches crossing gentle hands around his stolid neck. He carries her partway then swiftly plunges beneath the roiling swell.
In death she holds him still in her embrace.

It's like that at the swap meet.
Everyone clears out all the stuff that they once wanted, to make room for the stuff - we'll know it when we see it - that we'll buy. At the swap meet we tell one another, "How much you want for that?" You haul it home and keep it, until you run out of space or your kids stage a hoarder intervention, and you start to plan for the swap meet.

I like this a lot. Love/romance/ecstasy and loss/doom/death make such good partners in a story.
P.S. I had to look up "kelpie". Those pics you linked to are stunning.
