“Family is everything.” Carissa said to me with a sympathetic smile. She knew this was harder for me than her.
The calendar turned and the new age was upon us. Our oldest son lit the candles before he assumed his seat next to mine at the table.
Carissa looked my way waiting. I began, “Thank you, Michael for your sacrifice and for this feast we are about to receive.”
Last year we thanked Matthew. And I knew that following the feast we’d have to start trying for a new baby.
Carissa squeezed my hand and said again: “Family is everything.”

Well, in all fairness cannibalism isn't really a new ager thing. I think of it as more of a C'thulhu cult kind of thing.

I liked it! Seems like a lot of work to raise and feed a child for just one small meal though.Kudos to their devotion!
